Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued on Sunday in response to the latest ceasefire plan in Gaza, the ministry underscored Iran’s consistent stance in backing all efforts that halt the Zionist regime’s atrocities and pave the way for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, recalling the legal and moral obligations of the international community under the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, stresses that all states are responsible for supporting the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people to end occupation, apartheid, and colonialism,” the statement read.
While warning about the “dangerous dimensions” of the proposed plan, Tehran cautioned against Israel’s “repeated pattern of deceit and sabotage,” stressing that any decision on the matter lies solely with the Palestinian people and the resistance movement.
“Iran welcomes any decision by the Palestinian people and the resistance that leads to halting the genocide, ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces from Gaza, respecting the Palestinian right to self-determination, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, and rebuilding Gaza,” the statement said.
The ministry further emphasized that ending the ongoing genocide in Gaza does not absolve the Israeli regime of responsibility for its crimes. It called for the prosecution of Israeli officials responsible for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity, urging international institutions to take firm legal action to end the regime’s long-standing impunity.
Reiterating its call for immediate humanitarian assistance to the besieged population of Gaza, Iran declared its readiness to actively participate in efforts to deliver aid to the war-torn enclave.
