Hawzah News Agency- As a sign of mourning, a black flag was raised at the dome of the mausoleum in Mashhad in a ceremony on Saturday.
Servants of the holy shrine and pilgrims from all over Iran and other countries were present at the ceremony.
The walls and minarets of the shrine have also been covered with black banners and flags.
Mourning rituals on the said occasion also began today and will continue for a few days.
Attended by the shrine’s pilgrims, they include elegy recitations and religious speeches.
Shia Muslims and others in different parts of the world hold ceremonies every year on the first days of the month of Jumada al-Thani in the lunar Hijri calendar to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (PBUH).
