Hawzah News Agency- Secretary of the Guardian Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati made some remarks regarding the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad Baqir (PBUH), saying,” I offer my condolences on this occasion and hope that God will grant us the success of following the footsteps of that noble man.”
He pointed out,” During the time of Imam Baqir (PBUH), the territory of the Islamic community had increased, and facing the inhabitants of new lands, Muslims faced new questions and doubts that many of them could not be answered; that honorable Imam actively answered these questions and prevented the creation of religious deviations in the Islamic society.”
Ayatollah Jannati also noted that in the eyes of Imam Baqir (PBUH) and his educational history, Hajj has a special significance; by providing the ground for the gathering of Muslims from all over the world, it can become the basis for raising the level of insight of the Islamic Ummah. Indeed, such a view is one of the needs of the Islamic Ummah today and efforts should be made to create it.
The Secretary of the Guardian Council emphasized that taking advantage of opportunities and striving with foresight is an important lesson that Imam Baqir (PBUH) devotees should learn from that honorable imam. Our institutions should compile the missionary life of Imam Baqir (PBUH) and put it at the top of their actions.
At the end of his speech, Ayatollah Jannati also referred to the 14th presidential election that will be held on Friday, July 8 in Iran, noting,” We hope that the candidates and their supporters, through observing the legal standards and moral teachings in their campaigns, will lay the groundwork for holding elections worthy of a democratic system.”
