Hawzah News Agency – It does not matter for them to provide security or take care of shoe lockers; they are committed to serving the pilgrims.
“Pretty much similar to nature’s rebirth, we need to cultivate ourselves and the holy shrine is the best place for such a spiritual revival. Serving pilgrims here helps me gain knowledge and wisdom necessary for spiritual growth”, said a female servant who worked in the security section of the holy shrine.
“I don’t feel the passage of time when I’m here. I’m responsible for serving other servants at the breaks so they can do their duties better. This year, due to the influx of pilgrims, servant of the holy shrine get more tired and have less time rest”, said the other female servant.
According to another female servant, “serving holy shrine pilgrims has special sweetness. I’m in charge of dusting and cleaning, and these days, I do my best to provide a clean and beautiful place for the pilgrims”.
Despite having their own personal preoccupations, the servants dedicate themselves to pilgrims with equanimity. “In our section, we’re responsible for putting away prayer books and Mohrs. It used to be difficult at first, but I love this work after four years”, noted another female servant. Mohr or Turbah is a small clay tablet from the ground of Karbala, used by Shia Muslims in their daily prayers.
The holy shrine has a large number of volunteer servants. About 4493 individuals from different classes of people including clerics, university professors, engineers, physicians, and merchants voluntarily offer services to pilgrims in the holy shrine.
Servants of Imam Raza holy shrine welcome millions of pilgrims warmly and humbly in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, and they are happy to do so, inasmuch as they don't even notice the passage of time while working there.
