Iran's response to the next military aggression will be a heavy blow to US interests in the region

The Indian publication New Indian Express wrote in an analysis by "M.K. Bhadrakumar", a former Indian diplomat: Iran could deal a serious blow to US interests in the region if it repeats its military aggression against its soil.

Hawzah News Agency- This analysis, referring to the recent attacks by the US and the Zionist regime on Iranian nuclear facilities, emphasizes that Washington and Tel Aviv have not only failed to achieve their goals with this action, but have also led to strengthening the spirit of resistance in Iran and increasing public pessimism towards the intentions of the West.

Bhadrakumar writes: "The US military operation against Iran, known as "Midnight Hammer", was not justifiable in terms of international law and the UN Charter. Iran’s nuclear program, which is under the NPT and monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency, could not be a pretext for starting a war''.

The Indian analyst also described the US’s unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) as “the starting point of the crisis” and blamed then-US President Donald Trump for the impasse: “Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018 at the behest of Israel; an agreement that kept Iran’s uranium enrichment at a low level and under strict supervision''.

According to him, Trump’s goal with the recent attacks was to weaken Iran’s nuclear capabilities and pave the way for a “comprehensive peace agreement.” However, contrary to Trump’s claim, Pentagon assessments show that the attack has only set back Iran’s nuclear program by one to two years, and the IAEA has even predicted that Iran may resume its nuclear activities within a few months.

“Iran has shown that if it attacks again, it is capable of damaging Israel and US interests in the region with much more destructive weapons. Tehran will no longer be fooled by talks at the same time as a military strike,” warns the New Indian Express analyst.

Referring to the domestic space of the United States, he writes that Trump is also reluctant to engage in a war of attrition, because American public opinion is opposed to interventionist wars and any weakening of his political base could affect the upcoming US elections.

In conclusion, Bhadrakumar warns that if US and Israeli pressures push Iran towards developing nuclear weapons, the era of nuclear non-proliferation in West Asia will end and the stability of the region will be seriously jeopardized.
