Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a press conference hosted by Najaf police headquarters, Yusuf Kanavi, the governor of this city, stated,” Eid Al-Ghadir pilgrimage is different from other pilgrimages due to its deep religious significance and the strong importance it has in the hearts of believers.”
Referring to past experiences in commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Ali (PBUH) and dealing effectively with the changing conditions and security challenges related to large gatherings, this Iraqi official noted that the security forces will be ready for immediate intervention if needed.
Regarding the arrangements for the pilgrimage, Kanawi emphasized that detailed planning has been carried out to facilitate the entry of pilgrims to the Holy Shrine without causing crowding, establishing emergency procedures, and supporting urban protection to deal with possible incidents.
It should be noted that last week, the Iraqi Parliament voted to announce Eid al-Ghadir as a public holiday in the country's calendar.
Eid al-Ghadir is an Islamic commemorative holiday and is considered to be among the significant holidays of Shi'ite Muslims. The Eid is held on 18 Dhu al-Hijjah at the time when the Islamic prophet Muhammad was said to have appointed Ali ibn Abi Talib as his successor.
