Quran competition

Egypt's Awqaf Ministry announced the winners of the 28th edition of the international Quran competition.

Hawzah News Agency –The first category of the event was memorization of the entire Quran plus tajweed recitation and understanding the meaning, which was for Arab speakers, according to Youm7.

Abdullah Ali Muhammad Muhammad from Egypt claimed the first rank while Sarah Ayman Ahmed Moussa (Egypt), Eman Gamal Farouk Hassan (Egypt), and Abdul Hamid Abdullah Omar (Libya) stood next.

In the second category of the competition which was memorization of the entire Holy Quran and its tajweed recitation for non-Arabic speakers, Abu Bakr Tshamala (Congo) won first place.

Mahmoud Ali Shanfi (Comoros), Abdul Rahman Saleh (Nigeria), Ali Attia Ibrahim (Chad), and Drama Ismail (Côte d'Ivoire) ranked next in this category.

The memorization of the Quran for people with special needs was the third category. Saad Jaber Mohamed from the host country won the title while Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Abdel Halim, Abdel Rahman Mahdi Gamal Ahmed, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Ali El-Sayed, and Amira Ahmed Abdel Wahab Mohamed, all from Egypt, stood next.

In the fourth category of the contest, memorization of the Quran and tajweed recitation for children, Sherine Mohamed Abdullah Amin from Egypt stood first. Ahmed Tamer Mamdouh Mohamed Sabry, Romesa Ahmed Ibrahim Abdel-Aty, and Mostafa El-Sayed Nasr Abdel Salam, all from Egypt, won the next trophies of this category.

The fifth and final category of the event was Quran memorization and tajweed for imams of mosques. Ayman Mansour Abdel Aziz from the host country Egypt won the title. Awad Allah Al-Tayyib Ahmed (Sudan), Ahmed Mahdi Mustafa Mahdi (Egypt), Mohamed Hassan Abdel Azim Hassan (Egypt), and Muhammad Tariq Ansari (India) finished next.

Egypt’s 28th international Quran contest kicked off in the capital, Cairo, on Saturday, and wrapped on Wednesday.

Seventy-four Quran memorizers from different countries took part in this year’s event, which was named after the late qari Mohammad Sidiq Minshawi.

The panel of arbiters comprised twelve Quran experts from Egypt and a number of other countries.

Winners received cash prizes totaling 1.1 million Egyptian pounds.
