"Islam condemns Takfirism, Radicalism"

Hujjat al-Islam Reza Ramezani, Friday Prayer Imam and head of Imam Ali (as) Islamic center in Hamburg, Germany delivered a speech in the international conference called 'Danger of Takfir and Radicalism on Global Peaceful Coexistence' which is being held in Danish capital, Copenhagen.

Hawzah News Agency (Copenhagen, Denmark) - The Shia cleric was a keynote speaker of the event; he remarked, "The issue of takfirism and radicalism has been a major concern throughout history and it must be addressed in any era and in any region since it poses serious threat to different societies."

 

"During the last years, this phenomenon has become a regional and even a global concern since it imposes great threats on the whole world."

 

"Fighting takfiri thoughts has recently become a global demand and that's why we're here today to play our role and live up to our religious duties as Shia and Sunni scholars in order to reveal takfiri thoughts and inform people of these threats." He added.

 

The cleric further asserted, "The very essence and true spirit of Islam condemns takfirism and radicalism in any form."

 

"We, as Muslim scholars, have gathered here to send a clear message to the world that the foundation and spirit of Islam opposes any form of takfirism and radicalism; a Muslim, whether Shia or Sunni, slams takfirism and extremism."

 

Hujjat al-Islam Ramezani went on to say, " Islam condemns takfirism be it carried out against Muslims or non-Muslims, whether in Asia or Europe or any other region, whether against individuals or communities, whether it is state-run or carried out by private groups, Islam opposes extremism to it's very essence."
