Hawzah News Agency- In a statement responding to Netanyahu’s address, Hamas said his “blatant lies” were no longer convincing to countries around the world or international public opinion, adding that Israel’s war on Gaza, policies of starvation and deprivation of water, and destruction of the necessities of life had exposed the reality of Israeli policy.
Hamas rejected Netanyahu’s claim that the Israeli military is “the most moral” in the world, saying the assertion contradicted the killing of civilians in Gaza, including women and children, as well as findings by independent UN bodies concerning violations committed in the Strip.
The Movement also rejected Netanyahu’s account of the war and his denial that Israel had committed systematic genocide in Gaza. Hamas said UN reports and what the world had witnessed of mass killings, starvation and destruction contradicted his claims, while also pointing to statements by Israeli soldiers and officers and calls by Israeli ministers and officials for the killing and displacement of Palestinians.
Hamas said the departure of a large number of delegations from the General Assembly hall during Netanyahu’s speech reflected Israel’s growing international isolation and increasing global solidarity with Palestinians and their right to self-determination and statehood.
The Movement also warned of Israeli plans in the occupied West Bank, accusing Netanyahu of denying the existence of the Palestinian people there and providing political cover for settler attacks. It called on Palestinians to confront these policies and assaults.
Hamas concluded by criticizing the decision to allow Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, to address the UN General Assembly, saying that his place “should be in prison to face justice for his crimes.”
