Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Sayyid Sadr al-Din Qabanchi made the remarks during his Friday sermon at the Grand Fatimiyya Hussainiya in Najaf, where he addressed a range of domestic, regional, and international issues, according to a report by the Hawzah News Agency.
Makkah, Madinah are red lines
In the international section of his sermon, Qabanchi said media reports are speaking of attempts to target Makkah and Madinah.
"We believe that Makkah and Madinah are red lines, but we must remain vigilant against an infidel plot to provoke sedition and incite public opinion against Yemen and Iraq," he said.
Baghdad book fair welcomed
On domestic affairs, the Najaf Friday prayer leader welcomed the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair, praising its title "Baghdad, the Capital of Islamic Culture," and noting the participation of 600 publishers.
Public discontent over school year delay
Qabanchi also addressed public discontent over the delay in the start of the school year until October 11, saying that despite the ministry's retreat and its provision of a start date of October 1, "a big question mark remains over this handling of education."
Praise for Basra over cancellation of 'immoral festival'
The cleric extended his thanks to the people of Basra, its scholars, and tribes for cancelling what he called an "immoral festival" that had been planned in the southern city. He praised the stance as reflecting their awareness of the dangers of moral challenges posed by systematic enemy plots.
Millennium of Najaf seminary
Hojatoleslam Qabanchi also highlighted the millennium of the founding of the Najaf seminary, marking the anniversary of the passing of Sheikh al-Tusi. He expressed his gratitude to the Imam Ali (AS) Holy Shrine for organizing a festival on the occasion, stressing that "Najaf Ashraf is once again returning to its position as the fortress of thought, religion, and Shiism."
PM's upcoming US trip
Turning to the Iraqi prime minister's trip to Washington next week, Qabanchi stressed that any political or security instability in Iraq would explode a crisis across the entire region and destabilize the global economy, calling for files to be handled with wisdom and rationality.
Religious sermon: Four traits of a Shia
In his religious sermon, Qabanchi cited a narration from Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) about the characteristics of Shias: "If a man among you is pious in his religion, truthful in his speech, fulfills his trust, and has good manners with people, it is said: 'This is a Shia,' and that pleases me."
He explained that these are four traits the Imam emphasized for his followers: piety in religion, truthfulness, fulfilling trusts, and good manners.
Glad tidings for Shias of Ahlul Bayt
Qabanchi also conveyed glad tidings for the Shias of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them), citing a narration from Umm Salama, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), who said the Prophet told Ali: "O Ali, those who love you will rejoice in three stations: at the time of their souls' departure, when you will be present and bear witness for them; at the time of questioning in the grave, when you will be present and instruct them; and at the time of presentation before Allah, when you will be present and introduce them, saying: 'My God, these are my Shias.'"
The cleric stressed that these are three difficult stations in which the Shias of the Ahlul Bayt will rejoice.
