Amnesty International warns: Attack on Iranian civilian infrastructure is a war crime

Condemning Donald Trump’s recent threats against Iran, Amnesty International said that any attack on civilian facilities could be considered a war crime under international law and would have widespread humanitarian consequences for civilians.

Hawzah News Agency- Amnesty International described US President Donald Trump’s threat to attack Iranian power plants and bridges as “disgusting''.

Al-Mayadeen quoted the organization’s Secretary General, Agnes Callamard, as warning that such an action could be a “potential wave of war crimes'', noting that civilians would suffer the most.

Callamard also said: “What a disgusting and despicable message. Iranian civilians will be the first to suffer from the destruction of power plants and bridges, unable to escape the attacks''.

“This could be a wave of war crimes'', he added. “This is Donald Trump, the commander in chief''.

Continuing his aggressive approach in a threat that shows his impotence, Trump on Sunday demanded the Strait of Hormuz be opened, saying otherwise “Tuesday will be the day to target bridges and power plants” inside Iran.
