Hawzah News Agency- In a statement, the group—known as the Meeting of Lebanese Parties, Forces and National Figures—denounced Washington’s actions against the Venezuelan government, saying the aggression once again exposes the United States’ disregard for international law and humanitarian principles.
The statement said US actions reflect a long-standing policy of arrogance and dominance in dealing with sovereign states, adding that this approach reached unprecedented levels during the administration of former US president Donald Trump.
The Lebanese parties warned that the aggression against Venezuela poses a serious threat to international peace and stability and constitutes a clear violation of the sovereignty of a United Nations member state. They further described the reported abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife as a dangerous act of international piracy that sets a grave precedent.
The group stressed that such actions amount to an international crime and urged the UN Security Council to take immediate steps to condemn the aggression, halt all hostile measures, and ensure the release of the Venezuelan president and his wife.
Reaffirming their stance, the Lebanese parties expressed full solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people. They also highlighted Venezuela’s past support for regional causes, particularly its backing of the Palestinian and Lebanese people in the face of Israeli aggression supported by the United States.
The statement concluded with a call on international organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in confronting what it described as US tyranny. It also urged political parties, civil society groups, and free movements worldwide to oppose US policies that violate human rights, national sovereignty, and human dignity.
