UN sounds alarm over record Palestinian displacement, surge in illegal settler attacks in West Bank

The United Nations has warned of an unprecedented rise in Palestinian displacement and a sharp increase in violence by illegal Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank, citing extensive home demolitions and ongoing attacks on civilians.

Hawzah News Agency- peaking at a UN press briefing on Friday, Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq conveyed findings from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which reported that more than 1,000 Palestinians have been displaced since the start of the year in Area C of the West Bank.

He noted that the displacement figures recorded this year represent the second-highest annual total since OCHA began collecting data in 2009.

The UN also expressed serious concern over sustained violence by illegal Israeli settlers. According to OCHA, settler attacks against Palestinians have continued at consistently high levels throughout the year, resulting in what Haq described as severe humanitarian consequences.

Haq called for urgent measures to ensure the protection of Palestinians across the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem. He urged an end to punitive and unlawful demolitions and stressed the need to prevent further settler violence, warning that humanitarian conditions in the West Bank continue to deteriorate.
