Iran Slams Assassination of Senior Hezbollah Commander in Beirut

Iran’s Foreign Ministry and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council have strongly condemned the latest Israeli attack on residential districts in Beirut, which led to the assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Haitham Ali Tabatabaei.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued on Monday, the Foreign Ministry denounced the “terrorist crime” committed by the Zionist regime, calling the strike a blatant violation of the November 2024 ceasefire, an assault on Lebanon’s sovereignty, and a war crime that left dozens of civilians—among them women and children—dead or injured.

The statement emphasized that the perpetrators must be pursued and held accountable, stressing the need for the international community to confront “organized terrorism” and Israel’s “military adventurism” in West Asia.

Paying tribute to the martyred commander, the ministry praised Tabatabaei’s lifelong dedication to defending Lebanon and resisting Israeli aggression. It also extended condolences to Hezbollah’s leadership, its fighters, and the families of the martyrs.

The ministry further highlighted the United States’ continued support for Israel as a key factor enabling Tel Aviv’s ongoing violations, adding that parties guaranteeing the ceasefire bear direct responsibility for Israel’s repeated breaches. It criticized the UN Security Council’s inaction in the face of what it called Israel’s “continuous crimes” against the Lebanese people.

Larijani: Confronting the Zionist Regime Has Become Inevitable

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani also issued a message of condolence, saying that the martyrdom of Tabatabaei and his companions occurred on the night commemorating the martyrdom of Fatima Zahra (PBUH)—a symbolic moment linking resistance and sacrifice.

Larijani wrote that while the martyred commander and his comrades “achieved their dream,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to persist in his “reckless adventures,” leaving the world with “no choice but to confront this fake regime.”

He extended condolences to Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassim, the resistance fighters, and the families of the martyrs, stressing that the path of resistance will continue.
