Mufti Abbasov conveyed greetings from Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the Grand Mufti and spiritual leader of Russian Muslims, and highlighted the long-standing friendship and growing collaboration between Iran and Russia. He noted that Iranian officials frequently visit the Moscow Grand Mosque during their trips to Russia, reflecting the deep spiritual bonds between the two countries.
The Russian Mufti also praised the active role of the Iranian Embassy and its Cultural Center in promoting spiritual diplomacy and joint initiatives, including participation in the BRICS Religious Leaders’ Meeting, the International Conference on the Spiritual Silk Road, and the Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition — whose 2025 winner was an Iranian participant.
Chamran expressed gratitude for the warm reception and asked that his greetings be conveyed to Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. Recalling his earlier visit to Moscow during the Soviet era, he praised the reconstruction of the Grand Mosque, describing it as a magnificent symbol of the revival of religious life in Russia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mufti Abbasov presented Chamran with a photo album titled “Mosques of Russia” and guided the Iranian delegation on a tour of the mosque complex.
