Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the International Conference on Comparative Ethical Studies in Islam and Christianity on October 14, Johann Ertl, a researcher in interfaith dialogue, stressed that all religions believe in a Creator and that war destroys divine creations and the natural world.
Ertl highlighted that peacebuilding is a universal religious principle, adding that his research focuses on Europe’s historical experiences with war. He called on religious leaders to exert joint pressure on political authorities to prevent further global conflict and environmental ruin.
The Catholic scholar also emphasized the importance of intercultural and interfaith dialogue, saying that people of all nations and faiths can come together around shared beliefs. He noted that both Christian and Jewish scriptures contain significant teachings on peace and environmental responsibility.
Ertl concluded by warning that those who claim religious superiority stand in the way of peace, stressing that all believers must work collectively toward achieving harmony and justice in the world.
