British Museum experts praise scientific methods of storing artifacts in the Al-Kafeel Museum

An international delegation from the British Museum, which included experts and specialists in Islamic heritage, praised the scientific methods for storing artifacts in the al-Kafeel Museum of treasures and manuscripts at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.

Hawzah News Agency - The assistant head of the museum Department, Dr. Shawqi al-Mousawi, said that"the al-Kafeel Museum received an international delegation specialized in the field of Antiquities, Museum work, and Islamic heritage".

He added that" the delegation reviewed the museum's Holdings, the method of storing, documenting and archiving materials, "stressing that"the future will witness close cooperation between the Al-Kafeel Museum and the British Museum at the academic and artistic level.

For his part, the first secretary of the Middle East department at the British Museum, Dr. John Simpson, explained that "there is an organized work in the museum, which is evidence of the high quality in the storage of artifacts that was done in an organized and scientific manner."

He added that"the quantity of swords and the diversity present indicates the richness of the museum, as well as the archaeological and historical value of the pieces on display".

One of the members of the Dhi Qar antiquities and heritage Inspectorate, Mr. Ahmed Kadhem Ghanem, said that "the work at the al-Kafeel Museum exceeds the work of international museums I have visited, as the museum is characterized by the presence of capable staff, advanced maintenance, and advanced digital display methods".

Ghanem expressed his "hope that there will be joint work in the future between the holy shrine, the General Authority for antiquities and heritage in Iraq and the British Museum to serve the museum work in the country".
