Grand Ayat. Javadi Amoli terms participation in 22 Bahman rallies gratitude towards Imam, martyrs

Stressing the importance of commemorating the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli described participating in 22 Bahman rallies as gratitude towards the late Imam Khomeini (RH) and martyrs.

Hawzah News Agency- Shia Source of Emulation Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, in a message commemorating the 22nd of Bahman, expressed hope that everyone would participate in this year’s ceremony (2025).

The senior cleric noted, "Honoring the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory, participating in the 22 Bahman march, and preserving unity, cohesion, faith, solidarity, harmony, and alignment reflect the true commemoration of the blessed Islamic system."

"This presence and participation serves, on the one hand, as gratitude toward the late Imam and the martyrs (may God’s mercy be upon them) and, on the other hand, as appreciation for the greatness, dignity, and valor of our dear war veterans,” Ayatollah Javadi stated, adding It is also an acknowledgment of the efforts of those officials who have remained faithful to the path of the Imam and the Revolution—those who neither strayed nor obstructed others; Moreover, it acts as an admonition and guidance for those still contemplating their stance on this matter."

Key excerpts from His Eminence's message are as follows:

In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

As we stand on the threshold of the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, coinciding with the blessed days of Sha’ban, especially the birth of the awaited Imam Mahdi (may our souls be sacrificed for his sake), we pray that these celebrations and blessings bring goodness, mercy, and prosperity to the Islamic system and the Muslim community.

Several key points:

First and foremost, celebrating this anniversary and participating in this year’s 22 Bahman march (2025) means preserving our unity, cohesion, faith, solidarity, harmony, and alignment in commemorating this blessed Islamic system.

This presence and participation signifies gratitude toward the Imam and the martyrs (may God’s mercy be upon them) on the one hand, appreciation for the grandeur and dignity of our dear war veterans on the other, and acknowledgment of the officials who stayed loyal to the Imam and Revolution’s principles. These officials neither deviated from the path nor blocked others from pursuing it. It also serves as a form of guidance for those contemplating their stance on this cause.

A critical issue dating back to the early days of Islam was the deadly sin of "desertion after hegira" (known as ‘T’aarrub ba’d al-Hijrah’). Addressing this issue, the holy prophet (pbuh) said directly to the Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali (pbuh), “There shall be no desertion after hegira.”

The essence of this phrase is that those who migrated from Makkah to Madinah or those from tribes like Aws and Khazraj in Madinah who abandoned their pre-Islamic ignorance to embrace the blessed Islamic system are never allowed to return to the ways of pre-Islamic ignorance. Desertion after migration implies reverting to the pre-Islamic lifestyle. Reverting to such practices is among the deadly sins.

Furthermore, desertion after migration implies a desire to undermine the Islamic system or replace it with the pre-Islamic systems of oppression, such as those of the Pahlavi regime or similar entities. Such an act is not doable, leads to severe consequences, and is Haram. "there shall be no desertion after hegira"—is the first principle.

The second point is that despite the immense blessings brought by the Islamic Revolution, including advancements in scientific knowledge, religious understanding, and Quranic studies both in seminaries and universities, we must address existing shortcomings.

God’s statement, “He gives life to the earth after its death,” holds profound meaning. Revival of the land is not limited to rainfall. According to sacred teachings, a just administrative system brings blessings greater than forty days of rain.

In conclusion, all of us, God willing, will participate in this year’s 22 Bahman ceremonies, honoring the grandeur of our system and the anniversary of the Revolution. Let us not forget two key principles: Desertion after hegira (T’aarrub ba’d al-Hijrah) is forbidden and Justice, whether in governance or judiciary, brings blessings exceeding 40-day rainfall.
