The Islamic College monthly talk series with the theme of "Cities in the Premodern Islamic World: The Urban Impact of Religion, State and Society" to be held on Wednesday, 26 March 2023.

Hawzah News Agency- Islamic College present a talk by Professor Amira K. Bennison on "Cities in the Premodern Islamic World: The Urban Impact of Religion, State and Society" Wednesday 26 April 2023, 6.00 P.M. – 8.00 P.M. (LONDON TIME).

Professor Amira Bennison is Professor in the History and Culture of the Maghrib, Department of Middle Eastern Studies, University of Cambridge, Professorial Fellow, Magdalene College.

She has obtained her BA from Cambridge University, her MA from Harvard University and her PhD from SOAS.

In her work, she explores political legitimacy with a particular focus on Islamic Spain and the medieval Maghrib, alongside topics such as urban planning, ceremonial and rhetoric practices, and jihad in Islamic history.
