Hawzah News Agency- Senior Shia scholar Grand Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani had a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Interior Ahmed Vahidi on Thursday, January 19, which was held at his house in Qom. During the meeting the Shia source of emulation stated that,” I have been against the population reduction policy since the period of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani and I have had interviews on this issue during that time as well; he added, “So far, no society has been destroyed or caught in poverty due to the increase of population, rather the poverty of societies is caused by external factors.”

Emphasizing the threats of the population screening plan, he added,” The name of this plan is nice, but its nature is threatening and it also destroys the healthy population.”

Referring to a verse from Quranic Surah Mothaheneh, this source of emulation said,” We want to have relationship with the world, but there is no use in having a relationship with hostile countries that seek to strike to undermine Iran.”
