Hawzah News Agency –Iranian Cultural Mission in Tunisia in a program called "Book, the Lasting Companion" has distributed more than 800 title of books in various fields such as religion, history, Persian literature, Islamic Revolution and Iranology.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, during the early days of the Christian New Year and with the aim of promoting the culture of reading, the program "Book, the Lasting Companion" was implemented by the Cultural Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tunisia.

In this one-day program, which was attended by inviting university professors, students of different academic disciplines, Persian language students of universities and Cultural Attaché of Iran, more than 800 books with different topics of Iranian history, Iranian culture and customs, literary and historical figures who are source of honor for Iran, Persian language and literature, poetry, novels and short stories, history, religion, etc. were showcased for the interested public.

Meysam Farahani, the Iranian Cultural Attaché in Tunisia, in a short speech at the opening ceremony of this cultural event, pointed to the important role of books and reading in strengthening the general culture of nations adding that those nations accustomed to reading have been able to leave a more lasting and dynamic culture behind and passing their cultural heritage and treasures of knowledge and achievements of their scholars and intellectuals to future generations.

He said undoubtedly, a society in which the opportunity for study, research is available is less affected by foreign culture.

Farahani added Iran’s cultural mission in Tunisia is also determined to take an effective step in strengthening the culture of reading among young people, students and enthusiasts by holding cultural programs and it is hoped that by holding such programs, people of Tunisia to gain more knowledge about Iranian culture, history, scientific and literary celebrities and customs.
