Hawzah News Agency –Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein AmirAbdollahian spoke on the phone with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
Borrell tweeted that he spoke with AmirAbdollahian, at his request, and said that more urgency is needed in the Vienna Talks.
AmirAbdollahian said that there has been much talk over the past 8 years, but now is the time for action, stressing that Iran's nuclear program is completely peaceful and the resolution of the nuclear dilemma is linked to the complete lifting of sanctions from Iran.
The top Iranian diplomat noted that Iran has some suspicions concerning the readiness of the West to lift sanctions and continue the negotiations with good intentions and constructive ideas.
No constructive suggestions from E3
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that AmirAbdollahian criticized the EU's stances and behavior during the talks, adding that so far, Iran has not received any constructive suggestions from the E3. The Foreign Minister found it unlikely that a result would be reached soon in the negotiations.
Yesterday, our correspondent had reported from informed Iranian sources that the Iranian delegation to Vienna has five demands; the most pressing of which is the lifting of JCPOA-related sanctions.
Iran has presented two drafts to the Vienna Talks on sanctions removal and Iran's nuclear commitments, with lead negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani saying that Iran presenting these two drafts bears a testament to its seriousness in the talks.
The 7th round of the Vienna Talks began on December 2 and ended last Friday after delegations returned to the capitals for consultations on the two drafts.
