Hawzah News Agency (Tehran, Iran) – Alireza Arafi, Head of Islamic Seminaries of Iran in Qom sent a letter to Director general of the UNESCO:

Dear Audrey Azoulay

Director general of the UNESCO

Assalamu Alaikum

Religious leaders in Qom and Iran express their concern about the spread of coronavirus disease and pray for a quicker solution for this and other contemporary crises. While emphasizing on all health, medical and scientific recommendations and guidelines, global cooperation in combating this epidemic is essential. To fight this challenge and other contemporary crises, including injustice, discrimination, inhumane sanctions, environmental problems, warfare, terrorism, the production, and maintenance of WMDs, require international consultation and cooperation. The Iranian seminary considers religion to be part of the solution to these problems and calls to rethink the contemporary approach to the environment and to counter the irresponsible policies of some countries. While inviting everyone to a spiritual and sacred view of nature and adhering to the common human, rational, and religious doctrines, the Iranian Seminary declares its readiness to cooperate (with your organization) in combating corona-virus disease and other contemporary challenges.

Alireza Arafi The Head of Islamic Seminaries in Iran.
