Hawzah News Agency (Karbala, Iraq) – Senior Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Taqi Modarresi expressed happiness over the positive atmosphere in the country prior to upcoming elections and remarked, "Security and national stability are two pillars of a civilization and they are considered as blessings from Allah almighty; Our nation is one with highly religious values and great sense of patriotism."
In his weekly statement, the senior Shia cleric added, "What is currently happening in our region, especially in Syria and Yemen, is very disturbing since such hostile crimes weaken our nation's hope for a better and brighter future."
Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Taqi Modarresi also asked United Nations Security Council to play a constructive role in putting an end to wars in the Middle East; "These wars can only end through establishing rationality, justice and respect to human rights in order to enforce international democratic solutions."
In the end, the Muslim scholar went on to say, "The Iraqi nation must remember the incidents in recent decades and learn from them. They must avoid any actions that undermine the safety and stability of our country. The Iraqi tribes must unite together and solve their disagreements and struggles only to play a positive role in development of Iraq."
