Hawzah News Agency (Yazd, Iran) - During his visit to Hadhireh mosque in the Iranian province of Yazd on Friday, April 14, Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, made some remarks addressing the volunteers who were present to take the admission test for the Islamic seminaries’ new academic year; he stated, “Throughout their thousand years of history, Shia seminaries have trained numerous scholars and prominent figures who dedicated their lives to promote genuine Islam and to develop the Islamic world.”
Member of the Islamic Seminaries’ Supreme Council further added, “If we look at the history of Islam, especially Iran, we come to realize that during certain periods in time all major sciences in the world had been taught in the seminaries and well-known scholars had been trained there. These seminaries are considered as a main part of the Islamic cultural heritage.”
Stressing the great responsibility of clerics and seminary students, Ayatollah Arafi concluded, “We are heirs to a great and magnificent scientific and cultural heritage in Islam; such a long and bright history increases the responsibility of Muslim clerics.”
