Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In his letter, the Shia source of emulation thanked Lebanese Mufti, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, for his courageous stance in observing Islamic rules and refusing to receive the unveiled French women.

Referring to the veil ban law in some western countries, Grand Ayatollah Safi added, "Through your brave act, you supported women dignity according to Islamic teachings; something that's being overlooked and even oppressed in some western countries as they ban Muslim women's  veil."

At the end of the letter, the Iranian scholar urged Muslims to preserve their religious identity; "Your wise action promotes commitment to Islamic identity as well as adherence to basic Islamic principles." he concluded.

It must be noted that French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, and leader of the National Front, was denied a Tuesday meeting with Lebanon's grand mufti, its top cleric for Sunni Muslims, after refusing to wear a headscarf for the encounter. She had been scheduled to meet the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan. He heads the Dar al-Fatwa, the top religious authority for Sunni Muslims in the multi-religious country.
