"Muslims must progress in scientific areas"

“We must make great progress in scientific fields so that we reach a stage of self-efficacy in sciences; Muslims must not suffer from scientific poverty. If we show weakness in sciences, there will be more problems coming in other areas as well.” said Grand Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) – In a meeting with the executives of the Italian Muslim students association which was held in Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani’s house, the senior Shia cleric in Qom expressed his gratitude for the ongoing activities of Milan Muslim Association and said, “I sincerely thank you for your excellent promotional efforts in your Islamic center in Milan, Italy. This opportunity to promote Islam and its teachings is regarded as a divine blessing and you should be grateful for it.”

Highlighting the increasing global enthusiasm towards genuine Islamic teachings, Grand Ayatollah added,” I sometimes read newspapers and books about Italy and I realized that although Italy has no Islamic background or roots, the Italian people are interested in Islam and the number of Italian converts to Islam is significant. The point is, people are eager for true Islamic teachings and if we do our job well to introduce them to Islam, they will be drawn to it.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Shia source of emulation asserted that promoting Islam and Quranic teachings as well as Ahlulbayt’s (a.s) doctrine is considered as an act of Jihad; “We need to be present everywhere in the world since the correct introduction of Islam depends on our active presence in the international arena,” he concluded.
