Srinagar — Hojatoleslam Seyyed Hassan Mousavi, head of the Shia Religious Association of Jammu and Kashmir, stressed the comprehensiveness of Islamic teachings in his Friday prayer sermons held in Budgam, Srinagar, saying Islam is not limited to individual worship but includes respecting people's rights, honoring parents, upholding justice, and fulfilling social responsibilities as essential pillars of a faithful life.
Hawzah News Agency- Mousavi described Islam as a complete system for human happiness in this world and the hereafter, noting that alongside calling people to connect with God, it also outlines their individual and social rights and responsibilities.
Justice as a foundation of Islamic society
Highlighting the place of justice in Islamic teachings, the cleric said justice and respect for mutual rights are among the fundamental pillars of Islam's social order. An Islamic society can only achieve prosperity and tranquility when individuals feel responsible toward each other's rights, he added.
He emphasized that Islam attaches special importance to human rights, and whenever a right is established for someone, fulfilling it becomes an obligation on the other party.
Referring to the rights of parents, spouses, children, relatives, neighbors, believers, citizens, and other members of society, the Friday prayer leader called for respecting mutual rights. He said oppression, injustice, backbiting, betrayal, and violating others' rights are incompatible with Islamic teachings, and believers must seriously avoid such behavior.
Honoring parents
With special emphasis on the rights of parents, Mousavi cited Quranic teachings and said kindness to parents, humility before them, and respecting and appreciating their efforts are among the important moral and religious principles of Islam.
The head of the Shia Religious Association of Jammu and Kashmir said religiosity is not limited to performing prayers and individual acts of worship; respecting the rights of parents, family members, and others in society is also an inseparable part of faith and righteous action.
He also described maintaining family ties, respecting the elderly, and strengthening cooperation and empathy among family members as important manifestations of Islamic culture.
Applying Islamic teachings in daily life
Mousavi stressed the need to turn Islamic teachings into daily behavior and lifestyle, saying believers must apply Islam's teachings in their individual and social lives and build the family environment on justice, mercy, respect, responsibility, and respect for mutual rights.
In conclusion, he emphasized that the true spirit of Islamic teachings lies in simultaneously observing the rights of God and the rights of people, and creating a balance between worshipping God and responsibility toward His servants. Neglecting the rights of others and limiting oneself to superficial acts of worship is incompatible with the comprehensiveness and spirit of Islamic teachings.
