Pakistani Cleric: Mourning Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH) Is a Renewal of Allegiance to Ahlul Bayt

Prominent Pakistani cleric Hojatoleslam Sheikh Mohammad Hassan Jafari, delivering Friday prayer sermons at the Grand Mosque of Skardu in Baltistan, Pakistan, stressed the need to honor the oppression suffered by Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and described participation in her mourning ceremonies as a practical expression of devotion and a heartfelt bond with the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT).

Hawzah News Agency- Referring to the arrival of the Fatimiyya mourning period, Jafari asked the faithful to recognize the exalted status of Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and the sufferings of the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT), and to refrain from holding celebratory events, including wedding ceremonies, during these days — postponing them until after Fatimiyya if possible.

"These days the household of the Prophet (PBUH) is in mourning for Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH), and it is fitting that we too, by recalling the oppression suffered by that great lady, participate in mourning gatherings and demonstrate our devotion and heartfelt bond with the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT) in practice," he said.

The Friday prayer leader of Skardu expressed hope that respecting Fatimiyya and sharing the grief of the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT) would pave the way for the salvation of the faithful and their benefit from Lady Fatima Zahra's (PBUH) intercession.

The Decisive Role of Elites in Reforming or Diverting Society

Hojatoleslam Jafari then explained the role of elites in determining the fate of societies, noting that religious scholars, holders of power, thinkers, and other influential figures can, through their decisions and behavior, change a society's course toward reform and progress or toward deviation and ruin.

He said elites of the front of truth, with insight, responsible conduct, and collective effort, can pave the way for peace, unity, and social reform, while the negative performance of elites of the front of falsehood spreads division, discord, and corruption.

Citing Medina's condition before the Prophet's migration, he said Yathrib was plagued by tribal disputes, ancient enmities, and bloodshed before the arrival of the Messenger of God (PBUH), but his presence and divine teachings turned the city into a center of peace, brotherhood, and unity.

The Pakistani cleric stressed that every individual must first engage in self-examination and evaluate their own conduct, and by joining the ranks of the elites of the front of truth, take steps toward realizing justice, reforming society, strengthening unity, and securing the public good.

US and Israeli Threats Against Iran

Referring to potential US and Israeli threats and pressure against Iran, Jafari said the Islamic Republic of Iran is not indifferent to these threats and is working to strengthen its defense capabilities, particularly in missile and drone technologies.

He noted Iran's economic problems and rising living costs, saying the Iranian nation has maintained its spirit of unity, patience, and steadfastness despite livelihood difficulties and stands united and firm against its enemies.

He attributed this national spirit to the sacrifices of martyrs, particularly "the martyred Leader, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei," and prayed for divine assistance, victory, and pride for the Iranian nation and for an end to the Israeli regime's aggression.

Suspicion, Spying, and Backbiting as Social Harms

In another part of his remarks, citing the twelfth verse of Surah Al-Hujurat, Jafari warned of the moral and social consequences of suspicion, spying, and backbiting, saying these three vices are closely interconnected: suspicion creates the ground for negative perceptions of others, spying drives a person to seek out hidden faults, and this process can ultimately lead to backbiting and slander.

He described suspicion as a sign of inner illness and stressed that seeking out others' hidden faults and intruding on people's privacy is incompatible with the explicit teachings of the Holy Quran. "Today, especially in cyberspace, spreading unverified accusations, backbiting, and damaging people's reputation and dignity has become one of the serious moral and social harms."

The Friday prayer leader of Skardu stressed the importance of an awakened conscience and the self-reproaching soul, noting that a living conscience holds a person responsible for their mistakes and calls them to regret and reform their behavior. He urged embedding good will, moral purity, and respect for others' dignity in individual and social life by avoiding suspicion, spying, backbiting, and slander.

Jafari concluded by asking God to protect the Islamic community from moral and social afflictions and to grant everyone success in individual reform, social solidarity, and acting upon the teachings of the Quran and the Ahlul Bayt (PBUT).
