Nigerian Women Mark Birth Anniversary of Lady Zainab (PBUH)

A celebration marking the birth anniversary of Lady Zainab al-Kubra (peace be upon her) was held in the city of Kano with the participation of a group of women and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, where speakers stressed the necessity of emulating the courage, knowledge, chastity, and steadfastness of that great lady of Islam in individual and social life.

Hawzah News Agency- the Women's Assembly of Kano and its surrounding areas, affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Nigeria led by Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, organized the celebration at the Kufar Waiqa religious center in the city of Kano.

The ceremony opened with supplications and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Amine Talha then delivered a speech elaborating on various dimensions of Lady Zainab's (PBUH) life, her standing within the household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and her outstanding moral and spiritual qualities.

Referring to titles such as "Aqilat Bani Hashim" (the Sage of the Hashemites), ", and "Umm al-Masa'ib" (Mother of Sorrows) for Lady Zainab (PBUH), she described these epithets as expressions of that great lady's scholarly standing, wisdom, courage, and steadfastness, and referred to the tribulations she endured following the martyrdom of her revered father Imam Ali (PBUH), her brother Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (PBUH), and the heart-rending events of Karbala.

The speaker also explained Lady Zainab's (PBUH) upbringing within the household of the Ahlulbayt (PBUT), emphasizing that being raised in such an environment laid the groundwork for the formation of her outstanding scholarly, ethical, and resilient personality—a personality that remained committed to her religious beliefs and values even under the most difficult circumstances.

Amine further discussed Lady Zainab's (PBUH) marriage to Abdullah ibn Ja'far and her commitment to observing hijab, performing prayers, and engaging in night worship, describing these qualities as manifestations of her adherence to Islamic teachings.

She also referred to the events of Ashura in the year 61 AH and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his companions, highlighting Lady Zainab's (PBUH) historic role in enduring the tribulations of Karbala and safeguarding the message of the Husseini movement.

Emphasis on Turning Ahlulbayt's Teachings into Daily Conduct

Later in the ceremony, Maimuna Abdullahi, the widow of the martyred Sheikh Muhammad Turi and a special guest at the event, stressed the necessity of practically drawing on the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (PBUT) and called on women to use religious gatherings and occasions as opportunities for self-improvement and the strengthening of moral values.

She noted: "Commemorating the Ahlulbayt (PBUT) should not be limited to hearing the history of their lives at religious ceremonies; rather, the effects of this knowledge must be evident in people's behavior, dress, morals, and lifestyle."

The speaker also emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge and applying what is learned, calling on women to strive to become worthy role models in terms of knowledge, intellectual maturity, good morals, and social conduct.

She added that members of the Islamic Movement should conduct themselves in such a way that others, in their interactions with them, observe an example of Islamic ethics and proper upbringing—something that can contribute to a more worthy presentation of the school of the Ahlulbayt (PBUH) and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

Call for Patience and Steadfastness on the Path of the Ahlulbayt (PBUT)

Following the special guest's remarks, a group of reciters and poets affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Nigeria accompanied the ceremony with the performance of religious poems and compositions.

Cutting the birthday cake of Lady Zainab (PBUH), distributing it among those present, and hosting the participants were among the other parts of the program.
