‘Islamic Ummah Must Awaken’: Cleric Calls for Unity Against Aggression, Highlights Iran’s Defiance of Superpowers

Qeshm, Iran — A senior Sunni cleric from the southern Iranian island of Qeshm has called for the awakening of the Islamic ummah, urging Muslims to unite behind the principles of equality and brotherhood and to stand firm against oppression and aggression.

Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Mohammad Tashikh, director of the Ismaili Religious Seminary in Qeshm, made the remarks at the fourth international conference “The Resurrection of the Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH),” organized by the Global Qademoun Assembly on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, according to a report by the Hawzah News agency’s international service.

‘More Than Ever, We Need Awakening’

“Today, more than ever, we need the spirit of mobilization, awakening, and general movement of the Islamic ummah so that Muslims can stand against oppression and aggression and move toward unity and cohesion,” Tashikh said.

He cited the emphasis placed by the “martyred Leader” on the resurrection of the Islamic ummah, recalling that among his final statements was the assertion that if an event befalls the country, God will mobilize and awaken the people to confront it and finish the task themselves.

“If we examine the series of speeches by the martyred Leader, we see that his main strategy was bringing the people onto the scene and entrusting the banner of struggle to the people — the very ummah whose formation was among the goals of the Islamic government and the mission of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH),” Tashikh said.

Enemies Seek to Render Muslims Passive

The cleric noted that the enemies of Islam have always sought to push people out of the scene and render them passive. In contrast, he said, the goal of ummah-building is to gather a people who have been divided by various factors, while the Holy Quran describes the Islamic ummah as a “single ummah.”

Tashikh said the concept of “resurrection” (ba’tha) is not limited to one individual being sent to guide people.

“The true view and command of the Quran is the general movement of the Islamic ummah toward progress — whether in the field of science and knowledge, construction, economy, politics, or social issues,” he said.

Citing the Quranic verse “God is sufficient for you, and for the believers who follow you,” he said God places sincere believers alongside Himself as support for the Prophet. Muslims must first have faith in God and seek victory and assistance from Him, while true believers must also move on the path of reform and progress, he added.

Iran’s People Defied Superpowers: Cleric

Referring to what he called the “spirit of awakening and courage of the Iranian people,” Tashikh said Iranians rose up after the martyrdom of the Leader and appeared on various scenes, standing against major powers.

He claimed that the Islamic ummah of Iran, with limited military resources and budget, confronted two major powers and forced them to retreat. This, he said, should remind the Islamic ummah of the divine promise: “If you help God, He will help you and make your feet firm.”

Gaza Genocide: No One Can Evade Responsibility

Tashikh stressed the necessity of all Muslims rising up against oppression and aggression, pointing to the killing of the people of Gaza.

“Today’s crimes are before the eyes of Muslims and the people of the world, and images of these events are recorded and published by the media. Therefore, no one can absolve themselves of the responsibility placed upon them by religious teachings,” he said.

Three Principles of Unity

The cleric identified three principles — equality, brotherhood, and avoidance of conflict and division — as the foundations for achieving unity and cohesion in the Islamic ummah. Believers must be brothers and sisters to one another and feel responsibility and empathy in the face of one another’s difficulties, he said.

Referring to the principle of “tawalli and tabarri” (loving the faithful and disavowing oppression, polytheism, and disbelief), Tashikh said Muslims must hold love for believers in their hearts and declare their rejection of oppression, polytheism, and disbelief. However, he said, the Islamic ummah has fallen into negligence regarding this principle and must return to its faith and beliefs.

Citing the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) hadith describing believers as parts of a single building, he said believers must preserve and strengthen one another and stand together.

Division: A Key Enemy Weapon

Tashikh identified creating discord and division among Muslims as one of the most important factors weakening the Islamic ummah.

“The enemies of Islam, through geographical demarcations as well as various policies and programs, have paved the ground for disagreement and dispersion in Islamic societies,” he said.

According to prophetic teachings, Satan has despaired of believers returning to disbelief, and one of his most important ways of causing harm is creating disagreement and conflict among believers, he added.

‘We Need Awakening More Than Ever’

Tashikh concluded: “Today, more than ever, we need the spirit of mobilization and awakening — just as the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) was sent and trained an ummah that brought about a great transformation in the world and in the fields of ethics, science, and other areas.”
