Hawzah News Agency- Senator Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri made the remarks at an academic conference titled "Science and Islam" held at AIMS School and College in Islamabad, attended by professors, students and education activists.
The conference examined various dimensions of the relationship between science and Islamic teachings, the place of knowledge in Islamic civilization, and the role of the younger generation in the scientific and intellectual development of society.
'Islam Calls Humanity to Knowledge, Reflection and the Pursuit of Truth'
Addressing the gathering, Jafri stressed the deep bond between Islam and science, saying Islamic teachings have always invited humanity to acquire knowledge, reflect, contemplate and understand the universe.
He said science and knowledge hold a special place in Islamic culture, noting that Muslims across different historical eras made significant contributions to the formation and expansion of human science and civilization.
Highlighting the role of Muslim thinkers in the advancement of science, Jafri stressed the need for the younger generation to become familiar with the scientific and civilizational heritage of Muslims, saying young people must seriously pursue research, innovation and knowledge production by drawing on modern scientific and educational capacities.
'Knowledge Must Serve Humanity and Justice'
Jafri called on students to devote greater attention to learning and research, noting that true progress in societies is not achieved through material means alone, but also rests on knowledge, ethics, responsibility and character-building.
"Islam not only calls on humans to acquire knowledge, but also urges them to use science correctly and responsibly," he said. "Knowledge must therefore be employed in the service of humanity, the realization of justice, the growth of society and the resolution of human problems."
He also stressed the younger generation's responsibility toward the future of society, urging them to strengthen ethics, discipline, a spirit of research and critical thinking alongside their studies.
Jafri described raising an aware, knowledge-driven and responsible generation as one of the most important needs of Islamic societies today.
'A Generation Rooted in Knowledge and Responsibility'
Participants at the conference engaged with the topics raised, posing questions and showing keen interest in the scientific and intellectual discussions, while stressing the importance of holding such gatherings to raise the scientific and intellectual awareness of the younger generation.
At the conclusion of the event, AIMS Islamabad officials thanked Jafri for his attendance and address, honoring his scientific, educational and national services with a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative shield.
