Hawzah News Agency- In a post published on the X platform, al-Walaei said the martyrs of the resistance, the mujahideen, and the masses have every right to take pride, "for positions are truly tested at great junctures."
He noted that the talks on organizing weapons and establishing national sovereignty were conducted without any personal or political demands from the resistance forces, and that no consideration was prioritized over Iraq's national interest.
Al-Walaei added that the resistance's primary concern is Iraq's sovereignty, its national decision-making and independence, and the rejection of any foreign guardianship or interference — principles he described as worthy of sacrifice and paramount above all other considerations.
"The main concern of the resistance is Iraq's sovereignty, the national decision, and its independence, and the rejection of guardianship and foreign intervention — these are principles worthy of sacrifice and take precedence over all other considerations," he said.
He concluded the post by saying: "This is truly what 'resistance' is… as long as Iraq remains its own master."
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions in Iraq over the future of armed factions and the role of resistance groups in the country's political and security landscape. Iraqi resistance factions have consistently rejected any foreign interference in the country's internal affairs, insisting that the national decision must remain solely in the hands of Iraqis.
Al-Walaei's statement reflects a broader position among Iraq's resistance groups that their arms are directed at defending the country's sovereignty and independence, rather than serving any partisan or personal agenda.
