Hawzah News Agency- Participants underscored the necessity of promoting the message of peace, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence in light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam.
Prophetic Teachings and the Need to Strengthen Interfaith Dialogue
Addressing the gathering, Indian cleric Hojatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Sadeq Hosseini stated that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not sent for a single nation, region, or particular group. Rather, his blessed existence, conduct, and character serve as a clear model for all of humanity in the realms of peace, justice, mercy, compassion, and the preservation of human dignity.
He added that the teachings of the Holy Prophet, instead of creating divisions and discrimination among people, emphasize brotherhood, love, coexistence, and mutual respect, placing the path of peace and dialogue before humanity in the face of violence, tension, and conflict.
The Indian cleric pointed to the spread of religious hatred, sectarian differences, violence, and intolerance toward differing viewpoints in today's world, stressing the need to further promote and introduce the conduct and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.
He stated that the Prophet's mission carried a message of mercy for all people, as he rejected any form of supremacy based on color, race, language, or social affiliation, calling humanity toward justice, morality, brotherhood, and respect for one another's dignity.
"Today, the world needs the moral and human teachings of the Holy Prophet more than ever before," he said, adding that to reduce hatred, violence, and conflict, the principles and values of the Prophetic conduct must be practically observed in individual and social life.
The religious scholar also emphasized the importance of expanding the culture of dialogue and mutual respect among followers of different faiths, saying that strengthening communication and dialogue between religions and various segments of society is among the essential requirements of the current era.
He described the holding of the "Mercy to the Worlds" conference in the multicultural and diverse city of Kolkata as a valuable example of the possibility of cooperation and convergence among followers of different religions and groups.
"Such gatherings demonstrate that despite doctrinal and cultural differences, people can stand together on common human issues," he noted.
Hojatoleslam Hosseini concluded by stressing that today, more than anything else, society must strengthen love in place of hatred, dialogue in place of confrontation, and unity and solidarity in place of division and separation.
A Display of Convergence Among Faiths
One of the prominent features of the conference was the presence of academic, religious, and social figures from various faiths and communities. Alongside Muslim scholars and thinkers, representatives from Hindu, Christian, and Sikh communities also attended the event, presenting a vivid display of peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue.
Other speakers highlighted the cultural and religious diversity of Kolkata, stressing the importance of holding such gatherings. They stated that religion should not serve as a factor creating walls and distance between people, but rather can pave the way for strengthening morality, humanity, the pursuit of truth, and social solidarity.
The speakers further emphasized that mutual respect, dialogue, and understanding one another are among the most important means of building a peaceful society based on coexistence, and that followers of different faiths can advance on the path of peace and understanding by relying on shared human values.
Expressions of Devotion in Poetry and Literature
The poetry and literature segment was among the most engaging parts of the ceremony, receiving particular appreciation from the audience. Poets presented works depicting devotion and love for Prophet Muhammad, his noble character, his humane conduct, and his vast mercy and compassion toward humanity.
The recitation of religious poetry filled the hall with a spiritual atmosphere, as attendees listened with attention and respect to the poems and eulogies presented.
Love for the Prophet Finds Meaning in Action
Dr. Mohammad Rezwan Islam Khan, secretary of the Noor al-Islam Academy, stated that commemorating the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet can only have true meaning and effect when his teachings are reflected in the individual and social behavior of Muslims.
He added that genuine love for the Prophet is not confined to emotional slogans and the holding of ceremonies, but must manifest itself in action and social life—including the establishment of justice and fairness, support for the weak and needy, respect for the rights of neighbors, kindness toward God's servants, and efforts to establish peace and tranquility in society.
Dr. Khan stressed that the core message of the "Mercy to the Worlds" conference from the land of Kolkata is that, inspired by the mercy of the Holy Prophet and by institutionalizing human values within ourselves, unity must be strengthened in place of division, love must be spread in place of hatred, and the banner of peace and peaceful coexistence must be held high in place of conflict and war.
