Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Ali Ahmad al-Khatib made the remarks while addressing the 40th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on Thursday, which convened with the participation of 80 foreign guests at the Summit Hall.
Al-Khatib opened his address by offering his sincere condolences to the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran—led by Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei—on the occasion of the 40th day since the martyrdom of the late leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as well as to the noble Iranian nation.
He also congratulated the Muslim nation of Iran, the Islamic Republic, all Muslims, and conference participants on the auspicious occasion of the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The Arrogant Powers Recognize No Limits
Al-Khatib warned that anyone who obstructs the domination of world resources by hegemonic powers is branded an enemy worthy of elimination, while those who ally with such powers—even in their crimes—are treated as mere instruments with no respect for their interests or sovereignty.
"The trajectory of military, technological, and artificial intelligence advancement today is heading toward destroying all of humanity's achievements in the realm of rights and values," he stated.
Against this unprecedented wave of barbarism, he argued, nothing can stand except the legacy of the Holy Prophet—the figure whose mission has gathered Muslims together today.
"He was the culmination of prophethood, the embodiment of human values and moral virtues, and the founder of the first comprehensive human civilization with spiritual, heavenly, and earthly dimensions in creative balance," al-Khatib said.
Islam's Law: A Source of Resistance
The Lebanese scholar emphasized that the Prophet's sharia has always been a law of ease—a mercy to all worlds despite all difficulties—and that within this law resides the culture of resistance against every unjust aggression and every satanic and irrational project.
Turning to the Islamic Republic of Iran, al-Khatib said: "Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran stands against the most obstinate tyrants on earth and the most criminal powers in human history, relying on the thought of a great thinker and strategist of contemporary history—the martyred leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei—and with unwavering faith in pure Muhammadan Islam."
A New Map of Regional Influence
He emphasized that Iran operates on the concepts of power, authority, and reliance on God—whether in its continuous military buildup, its resistance economy, or its revolutionary politics that is once again drawing a new map of influence in West Asia.
"Iran is charting a new course for the region, one that challenges the hegemony of arrogant powers and offers an alternative model rooted in Islamic principles," al-Khatib said.
Call for Maximum Solidarity
Speaking on the occasion of Islamic Unity Week, al-Khatib called on all Muslims to stand in the highest form of solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran in its decisive battle against the arrogant forces of America and global Zionism.
"This call stems from the fact that unity is one, power is one, and the global Islamic community is like a single body—when one organ suffers, the others respond with wakefulness and fever," he said, citing the Quranic verse: "Indeed this, your Ummah, is one Ummah, and I am your Lord, so worship Me." (21:92)
He stressed that this is a Quranic truth that events do not alter but rather confirm—just as the Western approach of targeting the Islamic world and Muslims confirms it.
The Only Path Forward
While respecting the characteristics, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of every Islamic country, al-Khatib said it has become clear that effective Islamic solidarity and cooperation is the only way to prevent encroachment on the achievements of the Ummah, its states, nations, and living forces.
He cited the Quranic description of believers: "Severe against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves" (48:29), arguing that Muslims have no right to falter in supporting one another.
"We have no choice but to adhere to the approach of power—the best way to confront hegemonic projects armed with all instruments of crime. We must remove all concerns that obstruct our unity and convergence," he declared.
Renewed Call for Dialogue
Al-Khatib renewed his call for forming a delegation to engage in dialogue with governments of the Islamic world—one that could reassure them and move beyond previous judgments, preconceptions, and factors of division.
"We have witnessed the heavy costs of the reality of division. We must take courageous steps on the path of mercy and compassion on one hand, and on the path of repelling aggression from our Ummah on the other," he said.
The Leader's Warning
Concluding his address, al-Khatib quoted the late leader's insightful words: "Today there are many Islamic countries and approximately two billion Muslims in the world, but this collection cannot be called an Ummah—because an Ummah consists of coordinated individuals with shared motivations moving toward a single goal. But we Muslims are divided today."
He added that, as the late leader stated, the enemies of Islam have gained dominance over some Islamic countries, and the perceived need of certain nations for various forms of American support is a direct result of Muslim disunity.
"If Muslims were not divided, they could utilize one another's resources and rely on their own capacities to form a united bloc stronger than all great powers—one that would free them from dependence on America," al-Khatib concluded.
