Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a large mourning gathering in Dargund, Kashmir, Hojatoleslam Sayyed Hassan Mousavi stressed that true devotion to the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) must go far beyond words and rituals. "Real love must manifest in good character, truth-seeking, a commitment to justice, and firm resistance against tyranny and falsehood," he told the assembled believers.
Mousavi described the Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt as two inseparable sources of guidance for the Islamic community, a truth repeatedly emphasized by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) himself. He urged Muslims to cling firmly to both, explaining that the teachings and life example of the Prophet's household serve as a practical roadmap for realizing Quranic values in personal and social life.
The senior Kashmiri scholar warned against reducing devotion to a set of ceremonies or verbal claims, insisting that the true measure of love for the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) is found in daily behavior, moral character, and a lived commitment to justice. "The Islamic community can only truly claim to follow the Ahl al-Bayt when it puts their ethical and human values into practice in both individual conduct and collective life," he said.
Turning to the timeless message of Ashura, Mousavi described the battle of Karbala not as a mere historical event but as an enduring school of resistance against oppression, corruption, and moral compromise. He said the sacrifice of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his loyal companions was a decisive stand against tyranny and deviation — one that teaches every generation never to remain silent in the face of falsehood and to stand firm in defense of truth and divine values.
On the philosophy of mourning rituals, the cleric noted that commemoration of Imam Hussein is not solely an expression of grief. Rather, it must become a platform for self-purification, moral reform, and the strengthening of a truth-seeking spirit within the community of believers. Mourning gatherings, he said, should deepen religious insight, fortify resolve in the face of hardship, and reinforce adherence to Islamic values.
Mousavi concluded by calling on the faithful to strengthen their bond with the Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt, uphold the dignity and sanctity of mourning ceremonies, and transform the message of Karbala into a lived culture. He urged believers to follow the path of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in their own lives — standing for truth, working for justice, striving for social reform, and defending religious values at every step.
