Hawzah News Agency- Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, who traveled to Iran to participate in the funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei, declared that contrary to certain propaganda efforts, the late leader's vision extended far beyond his own nation's borders. "Ayatollah Khamenei did not only think of his own country; he was deeply concerned with peace, tranquility, and the future of all humanity, and he consistently emphasized dialogue over war," Maharaj stated.
Targeting Religious Leaders Violates All Principles
The prominent Indian religious figure condemned the assassination of a religious leader as an act that contradicts human principles and even the established rules of war. "Many wars have occurred throughout history, but even war has its rules. Targeting and martyring a religious leader is an unacceptable act," he said, warning, "If a religious leader is targeted today, tomorrow other leaders of faiths could face the same threat." He stressed that all monotheistic faiths are in mourning for the epic ascension of Iran's martyred leader.
Maharaj took a swipe at the United States and Western countries, asserting that true superpower status is not defined by weapons and military hardware. "Being a superpower does not only mean possessing arms and equipment; a real superpower is one that protects the world, not one that martyrs those who seek peace and calm for the people. The interpretation of such crimes is that humanity has been destroyed," he said.
He further cited the killing of children in war and the students in Minab as evidence of the collapse of human values, arguing that those who strive to protect human dignity must be supported, not targeted by violence.
Khamenei's Ideology Will Live On
The Indian coordinator affirmed that Ayatollah Khamenei championed those striving to uphold values and stood firmly against those who destroy humanity. "It is for this reason that we are enamored with him and with his thought and ideology. We will walk in his path, and God willing, we will not allow his words and thoughts to fade; rather, we will keep them alive and continue this luminous path together," he pledged.
Maharaj noted that the delegation from the Indian Parliament of Religions was among the first groups to arrive in Iran to pay tribute. He clarified the nature of their visit, stating, "We have not come on behalf of any government or political institution; we have come representing the truth-seekers to pay our respects to a figure who, we believe, worked in defense of humanity."
Shared Civilizational Ties
Highlighting his long-standing ties with Iran and the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, Maharaj described the relationship between the two nations as historic and deeply rooted. "Iran and India have shared civilizational and cultural bonds since ancient times, and we must work to expand these relations," he said.
In his concluding remarks, the 82-year-old interfaith dialogue advocate stressed that the message of peace and dialogue emphasized by Ayatollah Khamenei is the very same message he himself promotes across the globe. "I travel to various countries with a single message: the message of peace that Ayatollah Khamenei put forward, and the message we believe in," Maharaj affirmed.
