In an interview with the Hawzah News Agency in Tehran, Hojatoleslam Javad Toubaei, a prominent religious scholar and secretary of the Southern Tehran Mosque Network, declared that the Islamic Republic's battlefield prowess has brought adversaries to their knees, compelling them to plead for a ceasefire.
"The Islamic Revolution has demonstrated its power and deterrence on the battlefield," Toubaei stated. "It is now the United States and the Zionist regime that, after suffering devastating blows, are begging for peace and a ceasefire."
The cleric emphasized that any talk of negotiation with America, despite the nation's evident military strength, stems from a fundamental misunderstanding of the enemy's true nature. "Those who still claim that negotiation with the US is the only path to secure national interests have clearly failed to recognize the adversary," he asserted. "They have not learned from history. The crimes of the US and the Zionist regime should have awakened them by now."
The Futility of Negotiation with a Perfidious Enemy
Drawing on decades of bitter experience, Toubaei reminded that the US has repeatedly violated its commitments. "Given the multiple instances of negotiations with America and their subsequent breach of promises, anyone who still advocates for talks is either dangerously naive or lacks a proper grasp of reality," he warned.
The scholar cited the Quranic verse from Surah Tawbah (9:12): "And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief—for indeed, they have no [regard for] oaths." This, he said, serves as a divine directive against placing trust in those who habitually break their covenants.
The Supreme Leader's Prudent Stance
Toubaei elaborated on the remarks of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution regarding negotiations, explaining that Imam Khamenei's conditional approach is rooted in the enemy's proven record of bad faith. "The world witnessed how they failed to honor their recent commitments," he noted.
The scholar also invoked the enduring legacy of Imam Khomeini, who consistently warned that negotiations with America were neither honorable nor wise, as the US seeks only to impose its hegemony.
The Path of Dignity and Resistance
Emphasizing the imperative of steadfastness, Toubaei quoted the immortal words of Imam Hussein (PBUH): "Hail to us from humiliation!" and "One like me does not pledge allegiance to one like Yazid." He stressed that any deviation from this path of Islamic dignity undermines national security and contradicts the interests of the nation.
"The stance of the seminaries, the clergy, and the Supreme Leader is the same path charted by Imam Khomeini—a stance of resistance against oppression and the excessive demands of enemies," he affirmed.
He concluded by calling for national unity in defending the Islamic Republic's current regional and global standing, warning that any statement or declaration contrary to this unity arises from a departure from the principles of the late Imam and the Leader. "True political rationality demands that we learn from past experiences and remain steadfast," he urged.
