Hawzah News Agency- Addressing the prospective pilgrims, Sheikh Zakzaky described the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a time-honored Islamic tradition with deep historical roots. He explained that the practice dates back to the first year after the tragedy of Karbala, when Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari (RA), a distinguished Companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), became the first pilgrim to visit the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS). He noted that the pilgrimage embodies love, loyalty, and devotion to the Ahlul Bayt (AS) and serves as a means of strengthening one’s faith and spiritual connection with Islam.
Sheikh Zakzaky further urged the pilgrims to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Islam and the Ahlul Bayt by maintaining sincerity of purpose, exemplary character, and discipline throughout the pilgrimage. He stressed that their conduct should reflect the noble values and teachings they represent.
Commenting on the tendency to judge an entire community by the actions of a few individuals, Sheikh Zakzaky observed that every large gathering—including the annual Hajj pilgrimage—may include a small number of people who act irresponsibly. However, he maintained that it is neither just nor reasonable to hold the overwhelming majority accountable for the misconduct of a few.
In conclusion, Sheikh Zakzaky (H) offered prayers for the pilgrims’ safe journey, the successful completion of their pilgrimage, and the prompt issuance of visas to those whose applications are still being processed.
