Hawzah News Agency- The procession, held on June 28, 2026, coinciding with Ashura 2026, was organized by Bilal Muslim and took place in the Temeke district of Dar es Salaam. Hundreds of Shite faithful and devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT), alongside scholars and religious figures—including Bilal Muslim and Sheikh Hamid Jalala—took part in the ceremony to keep alive the memory of the Karbala epic and to honor the sacrifice and selflessness of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in defense of truth and justice.
In an atmosphere heavy with grief and sorrow, participants marched with calm and discipline, expressing their mourning and devotion to the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)—the Imam who was tragically martyred on the plains of Karbala in the struggle against oppression, in defense of Islam's honor, and for the preservation of human dignity.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Hojatoleslam Sheikh Hamid Jalala Mwakindenge stressed the necessity of keeping the message of Ashura alive. He stated that the movement of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is an eternal school of thought, offering humanity invaluable lessons in the pursuit of justice, courage, unity, solidarity, and self-sacrifice in service to society.
The procession concluded with prayers and supplications for peace, unity, and solidarity in Tanzania and across the world. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the movement and message of Imam Hussein (PBUH) alive and transmitting it to present and future generations.
