Hawzah News Agency- lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) convened at the Zainabiya Mosque and Cultural Center in Istanbul to hear addresses by Hojatoleslam Sheikh Salahuddin Ozgunduz, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Sajjad Hosseini, and Professor Muhammad Nur Doghan.
Speaking at the gathering, the head of the Supreme Council of the Jafari Scholars Union at Zainabiya, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Sajjad Hosseini, stated:
"Although the Umayyad regime has come to an end, its traces and consequences have not yet vanished. So long as these traces remain in our minds and thoughts, we can neither properly comprehend the Quran nor recognize the Messenger of God (PBUH) as we ought to. Ashura and Karbala grant us a tremendous opportunity to correctly understand the Quran and the Holy Prophet (PBUH). God willing, may the Almighty place us among those who benefit from this opportunity in the best possible manner."
Following him, Professor Muhammad Nur Doghan, a former faculty member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Istanbul University, stated:
"Instead of targeting America, Israel, and the hypocrites, we target Sunnis if we are Shia, and we target Shia if we are Sunni. In the Sunni world, there are individuals under the influence of American and British games who view the Shia world through a takfiri lens. Conversely, among certain currents referred to as 'British Shiism,' respected Sunni figures such as Umar, Abu Bakr, and Aisha are insulted around the clock—a conduct that destroys Shia-Sunni brotherhood and, in reality, Islamic fraternity itself."
In his remarks, Hojatoleslam Sheikh Salahuddin Ozgunduz added:
"The second Caliph states: 'Those who transformed the blessing of Islam into disbelief were the Banu Mughira and the Banu Umayya. The Prophet was most displeased with these two tribes and departed this world holding this stance.' These are the very words of the second Caliph himself. Now, if someone claiming to be Sunni says, 'I am a supporter of Yazid,' he is no Sunni; he is an infiltrator. Likewise, those who, in the name of Shiism, insult Sunnis, the Companions, or figures revered by Sunnis are not Shia either. They, too, are infiltrators—agents of Britain, Israel, or America. Those who strive to pit us against one another as Sunni and Shia are not from among us.
Following the addresses, devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) wept tears of grief as eulogist Farshad Hendiani recited lamentations in honor of the Ahl al-Bayt.
