Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh Jalala issued the call during an address to the faithful at the Ghadir Mosque in the Kigogo Post area of Dar es Salaam, as part of the mourning gatherings held during the holy month of Muharram.
In his remarks, Sheikh Jalala urged young people to remain vigilant and discerning when faced with the flood of information and content circulating on social media platforms, stressing the necessity of evaluating all matters against the standards of reason, knowledge, and the guidance of the Holy Quran.
"An abundance of content exists on social media," said the director of the Imam Sadiq (PBUH) Seminary. "Some of it is beneficial, while other parts are inappropriate. Wherever truth is present, our duty is to follow it, and wherever falsehood exists, we must reject it and distance ourselves from it."
Sheikh Jalala underscored that the Holy Quran repeatedly calls upon humanity to utilize the intellect in proper thinking and decision-making. He referenced several Quranic verses that emphasize the significance of reflection, investigation, and choosing the path of truth, including passages from Surah Al-Kahf (18:29), Fussilat (41:40), At-Tawbah (9:105), Al-Muddaththir (74:37), Abasa (80:12), Al-Muzzammil (73:19), An-Naba (78:39), and Al-An'am (6:148).
He further cautioned the youth against blind adherence to opinions and against listening to propaganda directed against various religious schools of thought without undertaking thorough research and deep investigation into those very traditions.
"Do not simply accept the word that says, 'These are Shia, so do not read their books.' If you wish to know the truth, study the Shia books themselves, not the books authored by the enemies of Shia Islam who speak about it. After researching and becoming aware of their contents, then issue your judgment, or respond with reasoning and proof," he stated.
Sheikh Jalala also encouraged young people to visit Shia mosques and educational centers to learn about and witness the truth firsthand. Rather than relying on hearsay or information disseminated by individuals with hostile stances toward Shia Islam, he urged them to undertake their own examination and arrive at an authentic understanding of the reality.
The remarks come as social media usage accelerates at an ever-increasing pace—a landscape that further highlights the critical importance of utilizing reason, knowledge, and deep research as fundamental tools for building a society armed with sound awareness and the capacity to discern between truth and falsehood.
