Sheikh Zakzaky at TikTok Forum called for responsible and ethical use of modern communication platforms

Leader of the Islamic movement, His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has called for the responsible and ethical use of modern communication platforms, as he delivered the closing address at the TikTok Forum Conference held on Tuesday, 23rd Dhul Hijjah 1447, at his residence in Abuja.

Hawzah News Agency- He described social media as a powerful instrument for communication and dissemination of information in the contemporary era. Drawing historical parallels, he referenced the eras of the Prophet of Islam (SAWW), Sheikh Uthman Danfodiyo (R.A), and Imam Khomeini (QS), noting the central role that effective messaging and communication played in their respective missions and movements. He nevertheless cautioned that these platforms are neutral tools that can be employed for either constructive or destructive purposes, depending on the intent and conduct of their users.

In the course of his remarks, he stressed the importance of accuracy, integrity, and contextual fidelity in quoting statements. He stated: “A statement must be taken from its source; once detached from its context, it loses its intended meaning. Quotations should therefore be transmitted in a manner that preserves their original sense and purpose.” He further emphasised the need for diligence in preserving context when extracting and sharing information.

He also called for restraint in public discourse, urging participants to avoid insults, misinformation, and content that promotes distraction or moral decline. He cautioned against being drawn into sensational or inappropriate trends, noting that undue attention should not be given to individuals or content seeking popularity through negativity.
