Ghadir: Culmination of Faith, Lamp of Guidance for Islamic Ummah

The head of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan has declared Eid al-Ghadir as the point of perfection of the Islamic faith and the beacon of guidance for the Muslim Ummah, stressing that the proclamation of Wilayah aimed to steer humanity toward a society founded on justice, morality, and divine values.

Hawzah News Agency- In a message marking the 18th of Dhul Hijjah, the blessed Eid al-Ghadir, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Sajid Ali Naqvi described the occasion as one of the most significant and fateful events in Islamic history. He emphasized that Ghadir is not merely a historical incident, but the starting point of the system of Wilayah and Imamate following the completion of the Holy Prophet's (Peace be upon him) mission, charting the course of guidance for the Islamic Ummah across all eras.

Declaration of Wilayah: Commencement of a New Phase in Islamic Leadership

Highlighting the exalted status of the Ghadir event, Naqvi stated that the declaration of the Wilayah and Imamate of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (Peace be upon him), at Ghadir Khumm was a clear sign of the completion of the divine mission and the beginning of a new phase in the leadership of the Islamic community. He described the event as, in essence, the introduction of a divine system for guiding the Ummah following the passing of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him).

Message of Ghadir: Ummah Must Cling to Divinely-Appointed Leadership

"The message of Ghadir was that the Islamic Ummah, in order to preserve the authenticity of the faith, safeguard Islamic values, and ensure the continuity of the path of guidance, must cling to divinely-ordained leadership," Naqvi asserted. He added that on this historic day, the Holy Prophet summoned Muslims to accept the Wilayah of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him), so that he would serve as the authority for explicating Islamic teachings, the guardian of Quranic precepts, and the guide of the Islamic community.

The Pakistani scholar underscored that the objective of proclaiming Wilayah was to guide humanity toward a society grounded in justice, spirituality, morality, and divine values. He stated that Muslims are duty-bound, through obedience to divine leadership, to stride on the path of reforming society and realizing Islamic ideals.

'This Day I Have Perfected Your Religion': Ghadir, Completion of Divine Bounty

Citing the noble Quranic verse, "This day I have perfected your religion for you," the head of Pakistan's Shia Ulema Council described Eid al-Ghadir as the day of the completion of the faith and the perfection of divine bounty upon Muslims. "The religion which Almighty God chose as the most complete and most favored path for humanity reached its stage of perfection on the day of Ghadir," he said.

Naqvi noted that the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) endured immense hardships, sufferings, and tribulations to convey and spread this divine faith, and following the Farewell Pilgrimage, in the land of Ghadir Khumm amidst a massive gathering of Muslims, he fulfilled his divine mission by proclaiming the Wilayah of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him).

Ghadir: A Universal Message for All Humanity

The prominent Pakistani cleric stressed that the proclamation of Wilayah at Ghadir Khumm carried a universal message for all of humanity, demonstrating that the prosperity, progress, and salvation of human beings lie in following divinely-appointed leadership and moving along the path of truth and justice.

"Ghadir teaches humanity that the Islamic community, in order to attain dignity, authority, and progress, requires leadership founded on knowledge, piety, justice, and divine values—qualities manifested in their most complete form in the lofty personality of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (Peace be upon him)," he added.

Renew Pledge to Imam Ali's Lofty Ideals

The head of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan stressed that on this blessed day, it is incumbent upon all to renew their covenant with the lofty ideals of the Commander of the Faithful (Peace be upon him) and to make his conduct, ethics, pursuit of justice, care for the people, and way of life the model for their individual and social lives.

In conclusion, Hojatoleslam Sayyid Sajid Ali Naqvi expressed hope that the Islamic Ummah, by clinging to the teachings of the Holy Quran, the message of Ghadir, and the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (Peace be upon them), will pursue the course of unity, justice, spirituality, and progress with ever-greater resolve and lay the groundwork for the dignity and prosperity of the Islamic world.
