Silencing the Elegy: Bahrain Jails Eulogist and Worshipers Ahead of Sacred Month

Manama – Bahraini authorities have continued their campaign of repression, carrying out a wave of arrests targeting a number of citizens as the regime's security apparatus escalates its war against the Shia community in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

Hawzah News Agency- Bahraini authorities summoned a series of citizens for interrogation before placing them under arrest, in what observers describe as an expanding security offensive against Shia residents.

Those detained include Nasser al-Kishri, a reciter of eulogies for the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them); Haj Abdul Jabbar Mirza; Haj Hussein Darwish; Ihab al-Hamadi; Ahmed Hassan; Sayyid Abdullah Majid; Hussein al-Khayyat; Mahmoud Muslim; Haj Mahdi Saleh; two brothers, Ali and Hassan al-Ghanem; Redha Ibrahim Mohammed Hamadah; Sayyid Hussein Jaafar; and Mohammed Sarhan.

Authorities did not stop there; further detaining two children identified as Mustafa Youssef and Zein Mohammed Ibrahim.

In Shia-populated villages, a heightened state of security alert has been observed, with regime forces deployed around most villages before a number of citizens were summoned and subsequently arrested.

The arrests come as part of an intensifying campaign orchestrated by Bahrain's Interior Ministry, unfolding in the context of ongoing regional developments, including what has been described as the direct targeting of Shia Muslims.
