Hawzah News Agency- Muhammad ibn Musa ibn al-Mutawakkil (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Attar who narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad al-Adami, who narrated from a man and Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, from Jamil ibn Darraj who said:

Imam Sadiq (pbuh) said: “The best of you are your generous ones, and the worst of you are your stingy ones. Among the righteous deeds are being good to brothers and striving to fulfill their needs, for in that is the humiliation of Satan, removal from the fires [of Hell], and entry into the Paradise. O Jamil, narrate this Hadith to the most distinguished of your companions.”

He [Jamil] said: I asked him, “May I be your ransom, who are the most distinguished of my companions?”

He [Imam] replied: “They are those who are good to their brothers in hardship and in ease.” Then he added, “O Jamil, indeed this is easy for the one who has plenty (wealth), but Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has praised the one who has little, saying: ‘And they give [others] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.’ [Quran 59:9]”
