Hawzah News Agency- Shaikh al-Saduq narrated from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated from Sa’d ibn Abd Allah, from Ahmad ibn al-Husayn ibn Sa’id, from Abu al-Husayn ibn al-Hadrami, from Musa ibn al-Qasim al-Bajali, from Jamil ibn Darraj, from Muhammad ibn Sa’id, from al-Muharibi, from Imam Sadiq (pbuh) , from his father, from his forefathers, from Imam Ali (pbuh) that the Prophet (pbuh) said:
ثَلَاثٌ یَحْسُنُ فِیهِنَّ الْکَذِبُ الْمَکِیدَهُ فِی الْحَرْبِ وَ عِدَتُکَ زَوْجَتَکَ وَ الْإِصْلَاحُ بَیْنَ النَّاسِ
وَ ثَلَاثٌ یَقْبُحُ فِیهِمُ الصِّدْقُ النَّمِیمَهُ وَ إِخْبَارُکَ الرَّجُلَ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ بِمَا یَکْرَهُهُ وَ تَکْذِیبُکَ الرَّجُلَ عَنِ الْخَبَرِ
قَالَ وَ ثَلَاثَهٌ مُجَالَسَتُهُمْ تُمِیتُ الْقَلْبَ مُجَالَسَهُ الْأَنْذَالِ وَ الْحَدِیثُ مَعَ النِّسَاءِ وَ مُجَالَسَهُ الْأَغْنِیَاءِ.
There are three situations in which lying is good: deception in war, making a promise to your wife, and making peace between people.
And there are three situations in which truthfulness is ugly: finking, informing a man about his wife regarding what he dislikes, and refute a man regarding his news.
He said: And there are three whose company deadens the heart: sitting with the miser, conversing with women, and sitting with the rich.
