Who Will Rest Under the Shade of the Throne on Judgment Day?

Hawzah News Agency- Shaikh al-Saduq narrated from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ali ibn al-Salt, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid, from Isma’il ibn Mihran, from Uthman ibn Jabalah, from Abu Hamzah al-Thumali, from Imam Baqir (pbuh) that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:

ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ مَنْ کُنَّ فِیهِ أَوْ وَاحِدَهٌ مِنْهُنَّ کَانَ فِی ظِلِّ عَرْشِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ یَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ رَجُلٌ أَعْطَی النَّاسَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ مَا هُوَ سَائِلُهُمْ لَهَا وَ رَجُلٌ لَمْ یُقَدِّمْ رِجْلًا وَ لَمْ یُؤَخِّرْ أُخْرَی حَتَّی یَعْلَمَ أَنَّ ذَلِکَ لِلَّهِ فِیهِ رِضًی أَوْ سَخَطٌ وَ رَجُلٌ لَمْ یَعِبْ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ بِعَیْبٍ حَتَّی یَنْفِیَ ذَلِکَ الْعَیْبَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا یَنْفِی مِنْهَا عَیْباً إِلَّا بَدَا لَهُ عَیْبٌ وَ کَفَی بِالْمَرْءِ شُغُلًا بِنَفْسِهِ عَنِ النَّاسِ.

There are three traits; whoever possesses them, or even one of them, will be under the shade of the Throne of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, on the Day of Resurrection—a day when there is no shade but His shade:

1. A man who gives to people from himself what he would ask of them;

2. A man who does not put one foot forward nor backward until he knows whether that action entails Allah’s pleasure or His wrath; and

3. A man who does not criticize his Muslim brother for a fault until he rids himself of that same fault, for indeed, he does not rid himself of one fault except that another becomes apparent to him. And it is enough occupation for a person to be busy with himself rather than [the faults of] people.
