Hawzah News Agency- The event, attended by both domestic and international media outlets, served as a platform for Iranian jurists to present a documented legal response to recent hostile actions, moving beyond mere condemnation to a detailed examination of violations under international law.
Mohammad Reza Mazloum-Rahni, Secretary of the Iranian International Lawyers Association, and Asghar Imani, Head of the International Law Department at the University of Adalat, elaborated on the statement's findings.
Mazloum-Rahni stated that in the wake of recent acts of aggression perpetrated by the "American-Zionist enemy," the country's legal community felt compelled to formulate a substantiated and analytical rebuttal through extensive deliberations.
"Unlike many previous declarations which merely suffice to condemn the crimes of the American-Zionist adversaries, this statement adopts an analytical approach," Mazloum-Rahni noted. "It elucidates the legal foundations within both the frameworks of international and domestic law, and dissects the various dimensions of these violations."
The Secretary of the Iranian International Lawyers Association confirmed that the document enumerates a range of crimes from the perspective of human rights and humanitarian law. It further delineates the legal avenues for redress and identifies the competent international tribunals and authorities for filing lawsuits based on existing conventions and regulations.
"This statement can serve as a comprehensive roadmap for national officials in the pursuit of legal claims, providing them with the necessary documentary evidence to follow up on this matter," he added.
Echoing these remarks, Asghar Imani emphasized the necessity of academic synergy in addressing such crises. He explained that immediately following the developments, prominent professors and experts in international law and international relations convened to assess the dimensions of the aggression and draft a unified legal response.
"The statement is the culmination of specialized meetings among the country's leading scholars, wherein the breaches of international law and the transgressions committed by the United States have been precisely examined," Imani said.
Imani highlighted that given the ongoing nature of certain hostile actions, the document is subject to future expansion and updates, underscoring the need for broader engagement from the nation's academic community.
The legal scholar stressed that Iran's legal community can act as a vanguard in paving the way for international legal advocacy. "This statement represents a step toward the formation of a cohesive legal front dedicated to defending the rights of the Iranian nation," he concluded.
The 42-page analytical statement by Iranian jurists was made publicly available concurrently with the press conference.
