Hawzah News Agency- In a statement released on Saturday, the prominent Iranian clerical body criticized Al-Azhar for its failure to distinguish the front of righteousness from the front of arrogance amidst the ongoing crimes committed by the US and the Israeli regime.
“That Al-Azhar, during the criminal attacks by America and Israel, could not distinguish the camp of truth from the camp of the arrogant has dealt a heavy and irreparable blow to the credibility of this long-standing institution,” the statement read.
The Society emphasized that Iran’s response to the heinous acts of the US and Israeli regime—whom it labeled “child-killers”—was a purely defensive measure. It accused Al-Azhar of distorting reality, which it said only exposed the institution’s political weakness.
The statement took aim at Al-Azhar for defending the interests of Washington and “the proxy rulers of the Great Satan” in the Persian Gulf, accusing them of allowing an independent Islamic nation to be subjected to aggression.
The Iranian clerical body urged Islamic scholars and elites, particularly those at Al-Azhar, to correctly identify the primary enemies of the Ummah—the US and Israel—and to remain vigilant against their plots. It asserted that true dignity for Islamic nations can only be achieved by distancing themselves from the arrogant powers and the "Great Satan," America.
Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, the Society stated that Iran has always been a pioneer in supporting the independence and dignity of Islamic countries and strengthening Islamic unity. It stressed that Al-Azhar’s misrepresentation of facts would not tarnish Iran’s righteous and benevolent image, but would instead harm Al-Azhar’s stand within the Muslim world.
The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom concluded by calling for unity within the Muslim Ummah, warning that the US and Israel will ultimately fail against the strength and steadfastness of the Iranian nation. It described the recognition of the front of the oppressed and support for the struggle for the liberation of Al-Quds as a great test for the Islamic community.
